Protective security can often feel complex, particularly for organisations at different stages of their preparedness journey. The Roadmap has been developed to simplify that process by bringing together key principles, guidance, and links to trusted resources in one accessible place. It enables users to take a step-by-step approach to improving their security posture, helping organisations identify priorities and take proportionate, effective action.
The Roadmap is intended for any organisation, venue, or premises, and is designed to be flexible and scalable across sectors and settings. Whether you are starting from scratch or building on existing measures. It supports organisations in strengthening their preparedness, building resilience, and better protecting staff, visitors, and the public.
Importantly, The Roadmap is designed to support all settings, regardless of whether they fall within scope of the Terrorism (Protection of Premises) Act 2025 (Martyn’s Law). It promotes good practice and provides practical guidance for improving security across the board.
If your setting is subject to the Terrorism (Protection of Premises) Act 2025, you should refer to the Section 27 statutory guidance alongside this tool to understand and meet your legal obligations.
We encourage you to review The Roadmap to assess how it may benefit your sector and the organisations you support, and to share it with relevant stakeholders where appropriate. By taking a proactive, informed approach, organisations can make meaningful improvements to their security and preparedness.
As always, we are committed to ensuring our products are as useful and impactful as possible. We welcome feedback on what works well and what further support would be helpful.
Explore The Roadmap, share it with relevant stakeholders, and send any feedback to the NaCTSO Lead Government Department team.
