We have a range of free to use resources that have been developed in collaboration with security experts, government departments, professional bodies, and businesses from the private and public sector.

Why not take a look around our website and find the advice that is right for you. If you’re not sure where to start, check out our top 5 tips below.

Increase your awareness and understanding

Action Counters Terrorism (ACT) Awareness is a free online learning course designed to equip you and your staff with a level of counter terrorism understanding and awareness of good security practices. This is entry level awareness and is suitable for all staff, volunteers and people connected to your locations.

Carry out a risk assessment

The Risk Management Process (RMP) is an assessment tool that will knit closely with Health and Safety assessments routinely used by business owners and operators. The RMP provides a step by step process for decision makers with little to no protective security knowledge to review your organisation.

Conduct your own risk assessment using the step by step guidance and templates available at Risk Management Process

Develop your own incident response plan

It is important to establish effective incident response plans and procedures to ensure everyone knows what to do in the event of a terrorist incident, how to look after those at your location and surrounding facilities and how to help reduce the overall impact of any incident.

Use the guidance on evacuation, invacuation, lockdown and protected spaces to learn how to keep people safe when an incident is taking place.

Rehearse how you would respond to an incident

ACT in a Box is an interactive experience that allows you to rehearse and explore your response to an incident as a group in a safe-to-fail environment. These immersive digital exercises help you to reflect on your own premises and work through how you would respond together to specific situations including dealing with a suspicious item or a marauding attack.

Protect your premises

Everyone should be aware of security and the need to protect themselves from both crime and terrorism. Though the likelihood of your premises being caught up in a terrorist attack is unlikely, attacks are possible anywhere across the United Kingdom, with many businesses directly or indirectly affected.

Consider and adopt measures to keep your facilities safe using our crime prevention toolkit
