To support organisations in understanding the requirements of the Terrorism (Protection of Premises) Act, two new animations produced by the Home Office are now available.

The animations introduce the four procedures and four measures set out in the Act and provide a simple starting point for building awareness.

Public protection procedures

Public protection procedures are the actions staff can take to reduce the risk of harm if there is a suspected terrorist attack at or near a premises or event. The Act sets out four procedures:

  1. Evacuation
  2. Invacuation
  3. Lockdown
  4. Communication

Public protection measures

Public protection measures are intended to reduce the vulnerability of premises and events to a terrorist attack and help reduce the risk of physical harm should an attack occur. The Act sets out four measures:

  1. Monitoring
  2. Movement
  3. Physical safety and security
  4. Information sharing
