You will likely be aware that a man has been charged following an arrest at St James’s Hospital in Leeds last Friday 20th January.

27-year-old Mohammad Farooq of Hetton Road, Roundhay, Leeds appeared in court on Friday 27th January and was charged with three offences:

  • Preparation of terrorism section 5 Terrorism Act 2006

  • Attempt to cause explosion, or making or keeping explosion with intent to endanger life section 3 Explosive Substances Act 1883

  • Possession of imitation firearm with intent to cause fear or violence section 16A Firearms Act 1968 

The charge under the Terrorism Act relates to hostile reconnaissance, alleged to have taken place at locations including an RAF base.
