The Home Office has launched two schemes to provide protective security at places of worship:
-
Places of Worship Security Funding Scheme
-
Protective Security for Mosques Scheme
An application for the scheme can be made via the following link: Protective security schemes for places of worship. Please note, the application portal is used for both schemes.
Through the schemes, places of worship can apply for protective security measures to be installed at their site to improve security against hate crime, such as:
-
CCTV
-
secure fencing
-
manually operated pedestrian and vehicle gates
-
door hardening
-
locks
-
reinforcing glazed windows
-
intruder alarms
-
door entry access control
-
video intercom systems
-
lighting
All measures provided by the scheme will be supplied and installed free of charge. This year, Mosques are also able to apply for the provision of security guarding services.
The application process is now open from until 15th August 2023. We will not be able to consider any applications received after this date.
